With STARR Exterior Services we do not just remove moss from your roof. Using the patented 'Roof Wand' developed and manufactured in the UK by Ionic Systems, we use low water pressure to perform roof tile cleaning; washing away the dirt and grime from the tiles. Unlike scraping methods a roof wash will give you a roof that is free from moss but also essentially looks good and restores tiles close to their original colour (see photo gallery for recently completed work).
Our roof cleaning method should not be confused with pressure washing, it is an entirely different system altogether. The head of the Roof-Wand has been specifically designed so that the operator has complete control over the intensity and direction of flow at all times, rendering it near impossible for water to get up and under intact roof tiles (which is the main issue with pressure washing).
We serve areas across West Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey including but not limited to Midhurst, Haslemere, Petersfield, Petworth and Chichester.
Following roof cleaning we only use Non-Chemical, Eco-Friendly biocides/algaecides (optional) on your roof which act as a barrier to prolong protection against regrowth of moss, algae and lichen. These natural products are not only effective but unlike BACS/Sodium Hypochlorite (which most soft washing companies use) they are completely safe around children, animals, plants and aquatic life.
The Roof Wand utilises a extendable pole system operated by a single operator to perform roof cleaning. There is no requirement for ladders or scaffolding. The benefits of this to the customer are:
Industry experts and surveyors advise that moss should be removed from roofs as soon as you see it starting to grow. This is to prevent serious, long-term damage to both your roof and underlying structure. When moss begins to spawn on roof tiles the problem will only become worse over time unless removed. Moss will often clog the rain water run off channels between tiles. Moss then absorbs water like a sponge causing your roofing structure to be almost permanently damp even in warmer weather. During cold conditions the moss can freeze which can cause tiles to crack and water ingress to follow.
Having the moss removed will free up the drainage channels and allow rain water to flow freely over the tiles as they were designed to do.
Roof cleaning can often significantly extend the life of a roof, saving £tens of thousands.
